RENO, Nev. (AP) - Hundreds of people came together in northern Nevada to denounce the violence of white supremacists at a gathering in Virginia.

KTVN-TV reported (https://bit.ly/2x1zJWV ) Monday that people lit candles and held signs remembering Heather Heyer. She died Saturday when a vehicle drove into a group of people protesting against the white supremacist gathering in Charlottesville.

Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve attended the vigil, saying the people of her city will not “put up with hate.”

Organizers hope that holding this event will encourage more people to stand up for what they believe in.
