STANTON, Calif. (AP) - A car crash in California has led to the death of a 64-year-old pedestrian.

The Orange County Register reports (https://bit.ly/2wa4EUE ) the man was hit by a car on Tuesday while in a wheelchair.

Orange County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Wayne Rehnelt says an Acura and Nissan Murano were traveling southbound on Beach Boulevard when the Acura came into contact with the Nissan, causing the Acura to lose control and go up the curb and run over the man.

Deputies began live-saving procedures on the man, but he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

His name has not been released yet.

The driver of the Acura remained on scene. Lt. Lane Lagaret said drugs and alcohol have not been ruled out as factors in the investigation.
