ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania corrections officer is facing felony charges after police say he helped several inmates assault another prisoner.
The Altoona Mirror reports (https://bit.ly/2vIEJAc ) 23-year-old Dalton Zeiders has been charged with criminal conspiracy and assault of a prisoner along with other misdemeanor charges.
Hollidaysburg Borough police say Zeiders let six inmates out of their cells March 16 to assault another inmate who was believed to have contraband tobacco.
Zeiders’ attorney says his client is facing “false accusations.” Attorney Thomas Dickey says his client has no prior record and he “would gain nothing” by conspiring with the inmates.
Records show Zeiders was moved from a paid suspension to unpaid July 6.
The six inmates are facing trial for their roles in the assault that hospitalized the victim.
