HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) - Two men convicted of roles in a street shooting that left a 14-year-old girl dead and another teen wounded have both been sentenced to lengthy prison terms.

A Bergen County jury in June had found Jeavonte Dennis and Nyje Johnson guilty of various charges stemming from the September 2014 shooting in Paterson. Both defendants were found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and weapons charges, while Dennis was also convicted on an attempted murder charge.

Bergen County prosecutors have said that gang leaders ordered the shooting that killed Nazerah Bugg and wounded her friend. The two teens were not the intended targets and happened to be walking in the area.

Dennis received a 45-year term Friday, while Johnson got a 22-year sentence.
