DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Des Moines’ city bus service is going high tech.

The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority, or DART, is unveiling a new mobile ticketing app to be available later this fall and will include a new fare policy.

The new policy includes a $4 day pass valid on all local and express service. Also, riders can purchase rolling-period passes that would include a seven-day pass and 31-day pass good from the time they are activated for a determined number of days before expiring.

One-way ticket purchases will remain activated for two hours per ticket, eliminating the need for paper transfer slips.

DART is hold two public hearings on the changes. The first is Tuesday at DART’s central station. The other is Aug. 28 at the Polk County Northside Community Center.
