MINOT, N.D. (AP) - A judge says a man charged with murder in what authorities called a gang-related fatal shooting in Minot must serve about 25 years in prison.

Authorities say 27-year-old Johnny Norwood shot and killed 30-year-old Roger Falana on Nov. 29, 2015, in a downtown Minot alley. Norwood was also accused of shooting a woman who survived, and firing multiple shots that endangered other people.

The Minot Daily News reports that Norwood entered Alford pleas to Class AA felony murder and Class A felony attempted murder before Judge David Nelson.

Nelson ordered Norwood to pay more than $14,000 to Falana’s cousin for burial expenses and more than $8,000 to the Crime Victims Compensation Fund for medical expenses for the injured woman.

Authorities allege Norwood has ties to a gang in California.
