GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say an autopsy has found a man shot at by police in South Carolina after he killed a woman on a busy street actually died after he shot himself in the head.

Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans said Wednesday that 34-year-old Ramiro Ramirez died instantly on July 14.

Authorities say Ramirez chased 25-year-old Candy Rosario on busy U.S. Highway 25 west of Greenville before shooting and killing her.

Greenville County Sheriff Will Lewis has said deputies fired back at Ramirez after he killed the woman.

The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shots fired by the deputies and did not release any additional information Wednesday.
