CORNISH, Maine (AP) - Police in Maine have arrested a man who they say tried to fight police after causing a neighborhood disturbance.

York County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a man who was outside screaming in a Cornish neighborhood Tuesday morning. When police arrived on the scene, the yelling man refused to submit and began fighting officers.

Police say they used a Taser on the suspect twice before arresting him. The suspect was taken to Maine Medical Center where he was treated and then released to deputies.

York County Sheriff William King says the man had assaulted family members before causing the disturbance.

The man, identified as James Remington III, has been charged with multiple offenses including assault and refusing to submit. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.
