HELENA, Mont. (AP) - A 45-year-old Montana probationer is being sought in a weekend carjacking in Helena.
Police are looking for Eddie Sanchez of Helena and say he may be driving a 2011 black Ford Crown Victoria with a broken windshield and Texas license plates.
Police say a 67-year-old man had checked out of a hotel room early Sunday and was leaving when a man pulled him out of his car, assaulted him and took the Crown Victoria.
Assistant Police Chief Steve Hagen says the carjacking happened just hours after a police chase in which spike strips were used, causing a vehicle to crash on Interstate 15 and the driver to flee. Officers could not locate the driver.
Sanchez is described as 6 feet, 2 inches tall with brown hair and hazel eyes. The Department of Corrections lists him as a probation absconder.
