WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - Fire officials say a blaze that damaged a multi-unit residence owned by a city official in Pennsylvania was intentionally set.
The (Wilkes-Barre) Times Leader reports that Fire Chief Jay Delaney made the announcement Monday.
The building owned by Wilkes-Barre Controller Darren Snyder was heavily damaged in a fire last week.
Snyder says he was told the fire started on a second-floor back porch. He says the second-floor tenants had been recently evicted.
An elderly tenant was helped out of the building by neighbors, and no one was inside the other units.
The fire chief says a police investigation will determine whether anyone will be charged with arson.
