GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) - A baby sitter is scheduled to go on trial in November on child endangerment and other charges if no plea agreement is reached in the death of a teenager in Pennsylvania last year.
Westmoreland County authorities allege that 20-year-old Brooke Nelson asked another teen to point the gun at 13-year-old James Gustafson to scare him as she was watching three young children in March 2016.
A judge sent the teen to a youth treatment program. Thirty-two-year-old gun owner Joshua Hudec pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts and was sentenced to 11½ to 23 months.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (https://bit.ly/2g49SdL ) reports that defense attorney Jack Manderino said Nelson might be amenable to a similar deal, but in a trial the fact that “she didn’t pull the trigger” would be “a good defense.”
