SOMERS, Wis. (AP) - The Great Lakes Valley Conference has imposed sanctions on the University of Wisconsin-Parkside after a six-month investigation into the eligibility of athletes.
The conference has put the school’s athletic department on probation and deemed the school ineligible for postseason play in all team sports this academic year.
The conference also is vacating the school’s 2017 wrestling championship and its 2016 men’s track 5,000-meters title.
Conference officials say the investigation uncovered as many as 19 possible violations in 11 of the school’s 13 sports last year.
School Chancellor Debbie Ford called the sanctions “unprecedented in relation to the violations.”
