PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Police in Maine have recaptured an inmate who escaped while at a work release job.

Authorities say Cumberland County Jail inmate Larry Paul Goodwin walked away from his work release job in Portland around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says deputies and Westbrook police apprehended Goodwin Tuesday evening at a Portland apartment complex.

The sheriff’s office says Goodwin is currently serving a nine-month sentence for cocaine possession, operating under the influence and driving after license suspension. He had been scheduled to be released in February.
