CLEARFIELD, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania woman has been convicted of third-degree murder in the death of her boyfriend’s 2-year-old daughter while baby-sitting the child more than 3½ years ago.
Jurors in Clearfield County deliberated for less than two hours Wednesday before convicting 22-year-old Jennifer Medzie of the charge while acquitting her of first-degree murder.
Police and doctors said Sophia Lauder had been shaken violently while Medzie was watching her at a Bradford Township home in November 2013. Medzie told police the child fainted in her arms.
Medzie took the stand in her own defense Wednesday.
