HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - A West Virginia couple has agreed to forfeit $1.6 million in assets in a plea agreement with federal prosecutors for selling synthetic marijuana through their shop in Mason County.
According to prosecutors, 69-year-old Eugene “Gene” Asbury and 32-year-old Natasha “Tess” Clonch, of Gallipolis Ferry, pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute synthetic cannabinoids.
The admitted selling $1.6 million of the drug analogues from 2013 to 2015 at The Scent Shop.
They were packaged under trade names, including Scooby Snax, Heaven’s Grass and Mad Hatter.
Under the plea agreement, they agreed to forfeit $189,000, three vehicles, and property located in Glenwood.
Sentencing is scheduled for November.
