BOSTON (AP) - A former Massachusetts high school student is suing school officials, alleging they failed to protect her after she was sexually assaulted by two students at a home in 2013.

The suit filed Friday in federal court says the woman was a 15-year-old Newburyport High School sophomore when she was given marijuana and then raped by a male student and sexually assaulted by another.

It says that when she and her parents told the associate principal, he threw his hands in the air and said “you didn’t have to tell us that, you know.”

The suit says officials failed to enforce a harassment prevention order the teen took out against her alleged attackers, who harassed her at school.

The superintendent told The Boston Globe school officials had not yet seen the lawsuit.
