CASTLETON, Vt. (AP) - Want to fish but don’t know how to get started?
The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department is holding two free fishing clinics next month.
An introduction to trout fishing using spin casting equipment takes place Sept. 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Waterbury Public Library. The clinic includes both classroom and field instruction and covers topics such as aquatic ecology, casting, knot tying and lure making. There will also be fish cleaning demonstrations and participants will get a chance to practice what they’ve learned in the Winooski River nearby.
A second clinic on the basics of fishing will be held September 21 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Kehoe Conservation Camp in Castleton.
