SAN DIEGO (AP) - A San Diego man suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a city vehicle while lying on the grass near Ocean Beach Park.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2wCIVok ) the San Diego Police Department says a city worker was driving a Parks and Recreation truck Saturday morning, checking and emptying trash cans, when the Ford Ranger struck the man who was lying nearby.

Paramedics transported the man to UC San Diego Medical Center to receive treatment for a broken leg, dislocated left shoulder and a broken left arm.

The San Diego Police Department Traffic Division is investigating the incident.
