BOYCE, Va. (AP) - A former prosecutor in Virginia is developing a play based on her experiences with 14 local homicide cases.

The Winchester Star reports former Clarke County Commonwealth’s Attorney Suzanne “Suni” Mackall described her play entitled “Understanding 14” at Old Bethel Church in Boyce on Sunday.

Mackall, who retired in April after serving as the county’s prosecutor since 1998, says the grim nature of the cases almost made her quit her job and that she decided to write the play to honor the 14 victims.

The production will primarily take place in the afterlife. Throughout the play, more people will join the room in the order in which they died.

She says the play is currently in a conceptual phase, but hopes to turn it into a musical.
