MILWAUKEE (AP) - Milwaukee police say an officer was thrown from his motorcycle when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver.

Police say the 54-year-old officer is being treated for non-life threatening injuries he suffered Thursday morning. He is a 15-year veteran of the department.

The officer and a colleague were patrolling on their motorcycles when police say they saw a speeding vehicle with occupants “acting suspiciously” as they communicated with another car. Authorities say that car struck the officer when police tried to stop the first vehicle.

Both cars drove away from the scene and police are looking for the drivers.
