UTICA, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 5-year-old central New York boy has died after being hit by a vehicle.

Police in the city of Utica say the boy was hit Wednesday evening on Boyce Avenue and died at a hospital. Police haven’t released any other information, including the boy’s name.

Officials say there were no drugs or alcohol involved in the accident.



WKTV-TV reports that witnesses say the boy was riding his bicycle when he was hit by a car backing out of a driveway.

Police expect to release more information Thursday.
