WASHINGTON (AP) - Police in a Washington, D.C. suburb say four adults were bound during a home invasion after intruders knocked on the door to get inside.
A Montgomery County police statement says officers responded to the Silver Spring apartment Wednesday shortly after 8 a.m. A woman told officers the intruders held them overnight before fleeing early in the morning.
Police say one man was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after one intruder assaulted him with a knife.
Police Capt. Paul Starks says a 7-year-old boy was home during the incident but that he may have slept through it.
Starks says it’s believed the victims were targeted because one works at a nearby check-cashing business the intruders sought to rob.
Police still seek the five men suspected.
