WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina woman has been declared mentally incompetent to stand trial in the fatal shooting of a gas station manager last year.
The Winston-Salem Journal reports Forsyth County Superior Court Judge Stanley Allen made his ruling on Wednesday in the case of 35-year-old Tonesha Tonyae Collins of Winston-Salem, who was indicted earlier this month for first-degree murder in the death of 53-year-old J. Won Kim.
Winston-Salem police said Collins went into the gas station on May 30, 2016, and shot Kim several times with a handgun. Kim died at a local hospital almost three weeks later.
A psychologist at Central Regional Hospital did an evaluation and determined Collins was incapable to stand trial. Allen followed with his decision and ordered Collins be admitted to Central Regional Hospital.
