LEWISTON, Maine (AP) - The lawyer for a Maine dentist is calling the state’s Board of Dental Practice “intolerably biased” after it temporarily suspended the oral surgeon due to alleged incompetence and violation of ethics.

The Sun Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2volXAw ) Dr. Jan Kippax’ lawyer criticized the 30-day suspension Thursday, saying the board “irreparably harmed” his client’s career and reputation.

The board suspended Lewiston-based Kippax on Feb. 15. The board says he operated on patients without proper anesthesia, used contaminated gloves during procedures and pulled the wrong teeth from patients.

Kippax’ attorney, James Belleau, says none of the allegations have been backed up by expert testimony. Belleau is seeking a dismissal of the complaints.

The suspension against Kippax ended March 17, and his office has since opened for business.
