CONNELLSVILLE, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a North Carolina man is dead after he was hit by a car while riding a bicycle along a Pennsylvania highway.

Police initially said the victim was a woman. They didn’t immediately release the name of the 27-year-old Burlington, North Carolina, man. Police say he was struck while riding in the center of the U.S. Route 119 in Dunbar Township about 3:30 a.m. Friday. They say the bicyclist wasn’t wearing reflective clothing.

Police say a 25-year-old McClellandtown man was driving in the northbound lane of the highway when his vehicle hit the bicyclist. The driver hasn’t been charged in the crash.

The crash happened near the Connellsville city line, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) southeast of Pittsburgh.
