WEST WARWICK, R.I. (AP) - Police say a driver faces charges after he hit and seriously injured a Rhode Island pedestrian and fled the scene.

Police say the victim was taken to Kent County Hospital following the crash Saturday morning in West Warwick. His current condition is unknown.

Police say the driver, a West Warwick man in his 20s, was taken into custody. He faces multiple traffic violations and a felony charge of duty to stop in an accident resulting in personal injury or death.

Police say the suspect was arraigned on Saturday.
