ST. MARYS, Pa. (AP) - A trail connecting two Pennsylvania towns has officially reopened after a 13-year project.

WJAC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2fpn9xf ) the West Creek Recreational Trail opened Monday, connecting the Borough of Emporium to Rathbun in St. Marys.

The 18.9-mile trail cost about $1.3 million to complete. It was funded through various state grants and local foundations.

The trail is open to walking, bicycling, snowmobiling and cross country skiing. Various additions to the trail, such as mile markers and benches, are being planned for the near future.

A representative with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources says their goal is to build a trail every 15 miles within the state.

She says the trail will help “get people out and active.”
