CORALVILLE, Iowa (AP) - The U.S. Marshals Service says a Chicago homicide suspect has been arrested during a traffic stop on Interstate 380 in eastern Iowa.

The agency says the 31-year-old man was identified as a suspect in a November 2016 homicide in Chicago.

The U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force was activated to help find the suspect after officials learned he had left Illinois.

After hours of surveillance, law enforcement officials saw the man leave a home in Cedar Rapids and stopped his vehicle Friday afternoon on I-380 south, just a mile north of I-80. The Iowa State Patrol and the Cedar Rapids Police Department assisted in the stop.

The suspect in now in the Linn County Jail awaiting extradition to Illinois.
