BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) - A judge Monday scheduled an April trial for a man charged with killing a Mississippi couple last year and shooting their baby.
Circuit Court Judge Roger Clark on Monday set a date of April 16 for the trial of Myrick Laneaux, The Sun Herald reported . He faces two counts of murder, one count of aggravated assault and vehicle theft charges.
A grand jury indicted 27-year-old Laneaux last month in slayings of Kristina Quintini and Norris Demetrius Mueller. The couple’s 6-month-old daughter, Mia, suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder but survived. The victims were found July 30, 2016, at Quintini’s apartment in Bay St. Louis on the Mississippi coast.
An autopsy showed Quintini, a 28-year-old former University of Southern Mississippi dance team captain, died from several gunshot wounds. Mueller, her 29-year-old boyfriend, was shot in the head. Both of them had attended Bay High School as teenagers.
Deputies held Laneaux in shackles as they led him into the courtroom for a status update Monday. He had previously pleaded not guilty to all charges in the double-slaying case.
In addition to the murder and assault charges, Laneaux was charged with stealing a car that belonged to Quintini’s mother.
