PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Rhode Island man who was charged with stalking for sending photos of himself wearing girls’ school uniforms and lingerie to women has avoided jail time.
WJAR-TV reports 63-year-old Dennis Ciaramello, of Providence, was given a deferred sentence Monday. Prosecutors had requested five years probation after he pleaded no contest to a felony charge of stalking and 22 misdemeanor counts of cyberstalking.
Police arrested Ciaramello in 2016 after they say he harassed more than 40 women for decades. Police say he got women’s numbers from business cards or his work as a house painter.
One woman said in court the harassment started when she was 14 years old. Others say they lived in fear and felt threatened.
Ciaramello has been ordered not to contact the victims and undergo counseling.
