LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A Las Cruces man has been sentenced to 24 1/2 years in prison for sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

Prosecutors say 34-year-old Ace Garcia was convicted last month of second-degree criminal sexual penetration of a minor, criminal sexual contact of a minor and other offenses.

They say Garcia was found guilty on four counts in connection with the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in December 2015.

Court records show Garcia encouraged the girl to drink several shots of alcohol against her will and sexually assaulted her while she was changing clothes.

Prosecutors sought the maximum sentence of 30 1/2 years at Wednesday’s sentencing.

They say Garcia will be on supervised probation from five years to 20 years and must register as a sex offender for life.
