RANKIN, Pa. (AP) - Police say one person was found dead following a vehicle fire in a borough near Pittsburgh.
Allegheny County police say a small sedan was found at an intersection in Rankin just before 7 p.m. Tuesday with the interior smoldering.
After the fire was extinguished, a male victim was found in the driver’s seat. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the vehicle had apparently been parked at the same location as early as 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.
The Allegheny medical examiner’s office plans an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death and to identify the victim. The fire marshal’s office is trying to determine the cause of the fire.
