CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - A 70-year-old Nevada prison inmate who was serving up to 10 years for burglary has died at a hospital in Carson City.

Nevada Department of Corrections spokeswoman Brooke Keast said Thursday that Richard Terry Vejmola died late Monday night at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.

Vejmola previously was incarcerated in the prison medical facility at the Northern Nevada Correction Center in Carson City.

He’d been there since February 2016 when he was sentenced to four to 10 years on a burglary charge in Washoe County.

Keast says an autopsy is planned to determine his official cause of death.
