LORIS, S.C. (AP) - Authorities in South Carolina say the bodies of two North Carolina men were pulled from a pond in which their vehicle was submerged.
News outlets report Horry County Rescue spokesman Capt. Mark Nugent said the bodies were pulled out of a pond in Loris on Saturday, around 10 hours after a caller reported a vehicle submerged in 18 feet of water. On Sunday, Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden identified the victims as 23-year-old Edgar Domenico-Torres and 26-year-old Phillip Taylor, both of Tabor City, North Carolina.
McSpadden says they died from drowning.
Authorities haven’t said what caused the car to go into the pond.
