NEW YORK (AP) - New York City police are searching for a suspect in a hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist.

WABC-TV reports the crash happened Monday morning in the Maspeth section of Queens. Police say witnesses saw a tractor-trailer strike 23-year-old Hugo Ramirez near a Long Island Expressway ramp. Authorities say the victim was crushed by the tractor-trailer.

Ramirez was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say it’s not clear if the truck driver realized he had struck a person. An investigation continues.

A local pizza shop owner says the Queens man worked for him as a deliveryman. The owner is collecting donations for Ramirez’s family.
