NEW YORK (AP) - A Brooklyn man has been charged with murder and rape after prosecutors said he assaulted his ex-girlfriend at knife-point as her daughter hid in a bedroom. They say he also killed the woman’s friend.

Ruslan Baimov was indicted by a grand jury Friday on murder and rape charges in the Oct. 29 attack. Prosecutors say he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment through a window. They say he slit the throat of Larysa Saad, who had been visiting the 38-year-old victim, then left her bleeding to death while he raped his ex. Her daughter hid in a bedroom for about five hours as Baimov remained in the apartment, prosecutors say.

He faces is life in prison without parole. He was held without bail. He has not yet issued a plea.
