HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Marshall offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Bill Legg has resigned.

Marshall announced Legg’s resignation in a news release Thursday. Legg says it was time to step down and “it has been a difficult decision because of many meaningful relationships.”

The 55-year-old Legg was Marshall’s offensive coordinator the past eight seasons. He also was the tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator at Marshall in 2001 and 2002.

Marshall went 8-5 this season, beating Colorado State 31-28 in the New Mexico Bowl.

Legg, a center at West Virginia from 1981-84, was an assistant coach at his alma mater from 1995-2000. He also had assistant coaching stints at Purdue, Virginia Military Institute, Eastern Illinois and West Virginia Tech.
