GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Deputies in North Carolina have arrested a man after his wife was shot at her workplace a day after she took out a domestic protection order against him.
Pitt County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Kip Gaskins told local media outlets that Calvin Miller was apprehended around 1:40 p.m. Tuesday on Highway N.C. 30, not far from U.S. Highway 264.
Gaskins said Charlene Miller suffered life-threatening injuries in the shooting at a farm supply store where she worked and was hospitalized.
Court records show Charlene Miller on Monday obtained a domestic protection order against her husband. In the order, Miller said her husband had threatened her life.
An elementary school across the highway from the store was placed on modified lockdown as a precaution.
