BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Hundreds of people have rallied in Burlington against a temporary suspension of immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries.
The rally Tuesday night in City Hall Park was the second rally in Burlington since President Donald Trump signed the executive order on Friday.
One of the organizers, Nolan Rampy of Burlington, told the crowd that he hopes this is the beginning stages of a long-lasting resistance to Trump’s “right-wing policies.”
Participants held signs, like “no human being is illegal” and shouted chants.
A candlelight vigil in support of refugees and immigrants is planned at the Statehouse in Montpelier Wednesday evening.
The order bars nationals from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen from U.S. entry for 90 and bars Syrian refugees indefinitely.
