WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Police say a 10-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was hit by a pickup truck in Wilmington.

Police said in a statement that officers were called to Linden Street on Tuesday evening for a report of a child struck by a vehicle.

Police say the boy ran into traffic and was hit by a Dodge Ram truck. The boy was taken to A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital in serious but stable condition with head and facial injuries. Police said Wednesday that he’s is in stable condition.



The News-Journal reports (https://delonline.us/2jUIwnx ) that neighbors said the child was trapped briefly under the truck’s tire. Images from the scene show a red sneaker under the truck.

Police say the driver remained on the scene and no charges have been filed.
