BALTIMORE (AP) - A former day-care provider has been sentenced to 20 years in prison in the death of a 9-month-old boy in her care in 2009.

State prosecutors said in a news release that 59-year-old Gail Pinder Dobson of Trappe was convicted Thursday of second-degree murder in the death of 9-month-old Trevor Ulrich. Dobson was sentenced Friday in Kent County Circuit Court.

Police were called to Dobson’s home in September 2009 after she said the infant was having trouble breathing. He died the next day at Children’s Hospital in Washington.

In 2010, Dobson was convicted of second-degree murder in Trevor’s death. She was granted a new trial after a judge ruled her lawyer provided ineffective assistance.
