DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - A May 1 sentencing hearing has been scheduled for a Dubuque man who was accused of sexually assaulting a resident at a center for intellectually disabled people.

The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2kX27Hk ) that 22-year-old Abraham De Los Santos pleaded guilty Monday to sexual exploitation by a counselor, therapist or school employee. Prosecutors had lowered the charge from sexual abuse in exchange for his plea.

Court documents say a female resident at Area Residential Care of Dubuque reported in August 2015 that she was sexually assaulted by De Los Santos, a night caretaker. Officials say he no longer works at the center, which offers services and support for intellectually disabled children and adults.
