OAK HILL, W.Va. (AP) - A 5-year-old child has been injured after being accidentally shot by a younger sibling.

Fayette County Sheriff Mike Fridley says the child was shot Thursday night near Oak Hill. The child was taken to Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill with non-life-threatening injuries.

Few details have been released. A preliminary investigation indicates the child was shot on accident by a younger sibling.

Fridley wouldn’t disclose whether the parents might face charges relating to child neglect, but said Child Protective Services is investigating.
