SYDNEY (AP) - While Sydney FC remained unbeaten in the season, Melbourne City and the Brisbane Roar drew 2-2 on Saturday to make up only marginal ground on the league leaders.

Nicolas Colazo scored the equalizer for City on a 61st-minute penalty after the Roar led 2-0 at halftime.

The result left the Roar in third place, two points ahead of City. The Melbourne Victory are in second place, 12 points behind Sydney.

Sydney won its 14th game along with five draws in 19 matches to remain the class of the league after beating the Wellington Phoenix 3-1 on Thursday.

There are eight regular-season rounds left in the season.

In another match, Diego Castro scored two goals, set up another for Andy Keogh and featured in the lead-up to Adam Taggart’s score as Perth moved into fifth place with a 5-0 win Friday over Adelaide.

On Sunday, Roy O’Donovan scored twice, including on a 65th-minute penalty, to give the Central Coast Mariners a 2-0 win over the Western Sydney Wanderers, and its third consecutive victory.

Newcastle plays the Victory on Monday night in a match postponed from Saturday afternoon due to extremely hot temperatures in Newcastle.
