MILTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police suspect ashes from a woodstove caused a fire that destroyed a home in Milton.

The fire broke out early Friday morning.

The husband and wife inside the home escaped the fire.

Police tell WCAX-TV (https://bit.ly/2lzYFA7 ) that it appears that ashes from a woodstove were put outside in an uncovered bucket and that strong winds blew them onto the home’s wooden deck.

The family was able to get one of their two dogs out of the house but continued to search for the other pet on Friday.
