ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - A St. Petersburg, Florida man is facing a murder charge for the death of a one-month-old baby.

Jeremiah Dillard was arrested Saturday on a charge of first-degree murder.

The Tampa Bay Times reports (https://bit.ly/2kzmaZa ) that Dillard was alone with the infant in an apartment when he handled the baby roughly last September.

An arrest affidavit says he found the infant unresponsive later.

A forensic pathologist who examined the baby found broken ribs and injuries to the mouth, abdomen and back side.

The affidavit doesn’t say if Dillard was related to the baby, or who the parents are.

The affidavit doesn’t list the sex of the infant, but a Department of Children and Families report from last September with similar details lists the infant as a girl.
