It happened early Sunday morning at 253 South William Street. The building houses a church and a basement social club that had been rented out for a Valentine’s Day party.
Police say four people sustained gunshot wounds. One of the victims, identified as 24-year-old Gevontay Owens-Grant, of Newburgh, was pronounced dead at St. Luke’s Hospital.
It wasn’t clear what sparked the shooting, but police say the church was not connected to the incident.
