TAUNTON, Mass. (AP) - A Brockton man charged with biting, burning and raping a homeless woman has been ordered held without bail at his dangerousness hearing.

The Taunton Daily Gazette (https://bit.ly/2lLDkDB ) reports that 49-year-old Nathaniel Simmons Jr. is facing charges including kidnapping, aggravated rape and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Simmons was arrested Feb. 10 after police received several calls reporting a struggle between a man and a woman in the parking lot of a Raynham store.

Police say the 29-year-old woman told officers that Simmons sexually and physically abused her after the two smoked crack cocaine together.

Simmons was previously convicted of raping three women in Bristol County during the late 1990s and is a Level 3 sex offender, considered the most likely to re-offend.

His court-appointed attorney had no comment.
