SUMTER, S.C. (AP) - A man was arrested by police in Sumter and charged with hit and run after a bicyclist was killed.
Police spokeswoman Tonyia McGirt told local media that 25-year-old Diontae Walters of Sumter has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving a death.
Fifty-one-year-old Steve Allen Sumter of Sumter died after he was hit Sunday. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
McGirt says officers found the vehicle that struck Sumter and later found Walters at a home and arrested him.
It was not known if McGirt has an attorney.
