SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The sheriff in Salt Lake County says investigations are ongoing, but he sees no indication the deaths of two detectives and a police officer in the short span of 18 days were from anything other than natural causes.

Sheriff Jim Winder told reporters Monday it’s unfair for the public to speculate about the deaths of Unified detectives Brooks Green and Brian Holdaway and Unified police officer Jon Richey.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/2l4RArq ) that Winder also said he doesn’t believe the cases qualify as line-of-duty deaths.

Officials say Green died Jan. 25 following a cardiac event near his home.

Holdaway died Feb. 2 after collapsing at a sheriff’s office in South Salt Lake.

Richey was found dead at home Saturday after failing to show up for work.
